Church Street’s hidden history

Nestled between the Bar Council of Ireland’s Law Library and the Honourable Society of the Kings Inn, St Michan’s Church has to fight for real estate prestige on Dublin’s Church Street. But this small church dates back to 1095 and visitors who don’t know will be surprised by what’s inside and possibly spooked by what’s beneath.

Below the church are five long burial vaults containing the mummified remains of many of Dublin’s most influential families from 1600 to 1800.
