Hell and Back is an 8k run and obstacle course that tests your physical limits. The weather conditions made their name to be taken quite literally at their last event on Saturday in Wicklow.
Many food and drink vans were set up at the event, but the heavy rain made their customers scarce.
Some of the spectators and participants chose to use umbrellas while others chose to embrace the weather as it was.
Participants changed clothes at the back of the event, through some woods.

Some decided to wrap their belongings, as well as their shoes, in plastic bags to battle the mud and rain.

Before the competitors started the run, they had a high-spirited warm-up to prevent injuries.

“The warm-up also helped me with the freezing cold. I was shaking before it,” said participant Liliana.

They made promises to honour the competition followed by one last celebration before beginning the course.

The participants burst over the start line and helped each other to pass through the obstacles from start to finish.
The last obstacle was going down a slide, straight into a pool of mud, just in case the rain didn’t get people wet enough.

Despite the conditions that would have others staying indoors, everyone made the most out of the experience.
